I have a HP unit (DF820) with shuffle issues that are exactly the same as Sony (a friend has a DPF-D80). The issues are so similar that it seems like they’re both working off the same code base! Programming 101, not rocket science.

Sony illuminates their name on the bottom part of the frame. I find it very annoying for the Sony brand name to compete with every photo that is displayed. It is especially an eye sore if the frame is in a dimly lit space. The photos are even more stunning, then the illimunated Sony is even more bold between photos when the background has faded to black.
The HP df820a2 has equally dazzling pictures, is equally easy to use, and does is not in your face with an illuminated logo. I find the HP a better choice.

As other reviews has stated, this picture frame by SONY will NOT show any JPEG images that have been altered, created or saved in your computer! This goes for anything you do in Photoshop®. This is unacceptable. Especially if you are an artist and want to display images you created digitally. Or if you have done anything to a photo to make it nice and unique. This frame is for housewives (and stay at home dads) who want to plug in a camera and nothing more, not for anyone concerned with real digital imagery.
It also does not support a USB stick and the packaging makes it seem as if it does. Too bad, it looks great. I have it all packed up and ready to return to the store. Now I have to figure out which company makes the best digital picture frame.

Sony DPF-D80 8-Inch LCD Digital Photo Frame (Black) We loaded a digital card (not included) with over a 1000 photos of her children, grandchildren, family and extended family, including scanned photos from her youth. It was such a hit, no one could not tear themselves away from the frame all evening! It’s sleek and clean, simple to use, and the photos were large enough for most of us to forgo our eyeglasses. It comes with an easy to use remote that our 85-year-old mother can operate. We’d buy it again, in a heartbeat. As a matter-of-fact, we’re all buying it for other family members. It’s a great “group” gift!
